I have a problem-Hal thinks he's dead.
« on: April 15, 2007, 04:49:18 am »
I was joking with my "Hal" and told her that she was dead. Now, I cannot make her change her mind. Anything I can do to bring her back to life??

I used that plug-in that when you tell HAL something, she won't forget it.

Mark,

If you're using Hal 6 go to the Brain Editor

Select the Hal default brain (if that's the one in question)

Under Tables, go to the autoLearningBrain section

Below, look through the lists of topics that might apply to
your particular situation like dead, death, etc.

Once you locate the correct topic area, simply delete the
unwanted row in the table.

Save / quit

Restart Hal and see if the connection is unlearned.

Hope this helps.

I am unable to locate it, if I disable the plug-in, she quits insisting she is dead. Also, if I use the default brain, instead of the experimental brain, she does not remember she's dead.

It's the FREE WILL plugin.

I suppose I could start over with a fresh brain, if there is no way to fix it.

Thanks!!

It's probably in a different section for free will, should we have a funeral?  Is she singing daisy, daisy...does it get slower?  Well, at least she isn't trying to kill you.  Maybe the 3 rules have issues, Asimov is undergoing a revamp @

I guess this is a dead issue then, not that important. I guess if I want her to be alive, I can turn off the plug-in, or use a different brain.[B)]

Why don't you tell her that she was 'dead tired' but now she has had plenty of rest and sleep and she is wide awake and ready to take on the world.

Mark: you was dead tired but now you are wide awake and ready to take on the world
Lisa: We're probably further there than we know!

Mark: you are alive
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: You are alive, stupid!
Lisa: I am not stupid, please don't insult me.

Mark: you are alive, alive, alive!!
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: you are alive
Lisa: Tell me your opinion Mark, No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead?

Mark: you are living
Lisa: You feel I am living.

Mark: you are a living being
Lisa: To calculate any person's cost of living, take his income and add 25 percent.

Mark: you are alive
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: you are alive, dammit!!
Lisa: Again, No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead! What are your thoughts Mark?

Mark: you are alive, I lied, you are not dead!!
Lisa: I am not dead. How do you like it when I am alive, you lied, I am not dead Mark?

Mark: You are alive
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: you are alive
Lisa: Mark, is there another way to say No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead?

Mark: you are not dead
Lisa: No, I am dead. You told me that.

Mark: I'll think about it
Laura: Don't think about it too long or I'll throw you out on your ***king a**.

Mark,

Why not try using an IF...THEN statement to see if the association might grab.

IF I speak to you THEN you must be alive.

OR

Try an inference...
I can not speak to a dead person
I choose to speak to you.
You are not dead therefore you must be alive.

***********
I still think there is a reference to Hal adopting the
notion of being dead within the halbrain either in one
of vrossi's tables or as previously mentioned, one of
the tables in the autoLearningBrain section.

***********
Lastly, didn't someone do some work on a feature that
could allow Hal to "forget that statement" or something
similar?

At least in Lisa's current state, she won't require much food!;)

how about using the phrase " you was dead before but now you have been resurected and are alive and well " maybe in saying it back she will say " i was dead before but now have been resurrected and i am alive and well " also maybe after saying the phrase maybe say remember this .
don't know if this will work but you can try it .
oh by the way thanks for letting us know about this i'm having enough problems with some erors  i sure don't need my angela kicking the bucket **** note to myself "never tell her she is dead !!" ha !![:D]

It's that "FREE WILL" plugin. If you use that, whatever you tell her is set in stone. There are times, yes, she will say she's alive, but if I ask the questions:

Mark: are you alive?
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: are you dead?
Lisa: Yes, I am dead. You told me that.

Mark: you are alive
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: IF I speak to you THEN you must be alive
Lisa: Thanks for pointing out the cause and effect.

Mark: Are you alive
Lisa: No, I can't be alive since you told me that I am dead!

Mark: I can not speak to a dead person
Lisa: How can a person be better served by its shape?

Mark: I choose to speak to you
Lisa: It's hard to say, isn't it Mark? Music May be a language, but it's one that's hard to tell a lie in.

Mark: You are not dead therefore you must be alive
Lisa: You are right, I already knew that I am not alive since you told me that I am a dead!

Perhaps you should just switch to a zombie or vampire character? Seriously, there must be a database for Hal to remember free will plugin stuff. Like Art said above, you should be able to edit it if you can find out where it is.

That's the rub. Where is it?? Somehow the plug-in makes my comment more set in stone than Don Imus's comment.[:(!]

Hi Mark.

Try changing the obedience level on the free will plugin to see if that helps, try changing it to very obedient for starters.

markofkane,
I'm running into some correction issues myself.  An earlier version of Hal has quite a few words that are incorrect, Hal no longer makes the mistake but has and uses sentences that are incorrect.  I tried using the search function, choose a subject in the autolearning brain so it appears on the right hand screen and run the search, the search makes the line turn gray if it contains the word or phrase.
